Tanya M. Brandes, MD

President


Dr. Brandes oversees grants to individuals and organizations. A native of Los Angeles, California, Tanya is a summa cum laude graduate of USC and a graduate of the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Brandes has dedicated much philanthropic effort to clinical and educational programs in some of the world’s least-served communities, including remote areas of Southern Africa, Papua New Guinea, and Southeast Asia.

 

As founder and partner of Amalfi Productions, Tanya has worked as an executive producer of feature and documentary films.

 

A former model with international experience, Tanya maintains contacts in the fashion and design industries, and enjoys serving as a liaison in partnering these artistic businesses with charitable causes.

 

Dr. Brandes currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, the Dean’s Advisory Council at UCSD’s Rady School of Management, and the International Council of the American Friends of the Louvre.

Charles Brandes is the founder and Chairman of Brandes Investment Partners, LP, an investment advisory firm serving institutional and private clients world-wide. Originally from Pennsylvania, Charles received his BA in Economics from Bucknell University. He attended the MBA program at SDSU, and founded Brandes Investment Partners in 1974. Charles is Chairman of the firm’s five-member Executive Committee, where he shares responsibility for driving strategic decisions and monitoring implementation of the firm’s vision and objectives.

 

Charles presently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, where he is Chairman of the Investment Committee. Mr. Brandes also serves on the Board of Trustees, Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego.
