Tanya and Charles Brandes Foundation Contributes $5 Million to UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management to Support MBA Student Fellowships
The Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego announced in July 2007 a charitable gift of $5 million, directed from Tanya and Charles Brandes of Rancho Santa Fe, through The Tanya and Charles Brandes Foundation.
Georgia O'Keeffe and the Women of the Stieglitz Circle Opens at San Diego Museum of Art
Georgia O’Keeffe and the Women of the Stieglitz Circle exhibit, which was held from May to September 2008, was co-organized by the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and High Museum of Art. It was supported in part by The National Endowment for the Arts, The Burnett Foundation, and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum National Council. Local presentation was made possible by the generosity of Charles and Tanya Brandes. Additional support is provided by the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and the members of the San Diego Museum of Art.

Puccini’s Beloved Madama Butterfly Returns to Close 2009 Season
San Diego Opera presented Puccini’s Madama Butterfly as the fifth and final opera of the 2009 season in May 2009. Returning to San Diego Opera in the title role was American soprano Patricia Racette who has made Cio-Cio-San her signature role. These performances of Madama Butterfly at the San Diego Opera were made possible by Peter Farrell/Farrell Family Foundation (Co-Title Sponsors) and Charles and Tanya Brandes (Co-Title Sponsors).
Beach and Country Guild’s 37th Annual “Dia del Sol” Sets a New Record
The dedicated members of the Beach and Country Guild really outdid themselves in October 2006 for the 37th Annual “Dia del Sol.” Nearly 400 persons turned out to tour the home and estate of Charles and Tanya Brandes in Rancho Santa Fe. When the dust settled, a total of over $245,000 had been raised for United Cerebral Palsy…up from a previous record high of $162,000 the previous year.

Art Aficionados
Art aficionados and major supporters of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Hugh Davies, Tanya and Charles Brandes, Joan and Irwin Jacobs, Peter Farrell, Chuck Betlach and Sheryl and Harvey White hosted the March 2008 International and Contemporary Collectors Dinner at the museum’s La Jolla location.
Friends of the Institute Gather for Annual Symphony at Salk
A total of 800 guests, including Charles and Tanya Brandes, attended the November 2007 Symphony at Salk, which featured an evening of music and entertainment by the San Diego Symphony and guest artist Hershey Felder. The annual fundraiser directly benefits research at the Institute by providing resources that are crucial to Salk's mission of scientific discovery.
